We are organizing a band night for wednesday april the 9th, the first wednesday after we get back from the easter holidays. The night starts at 7:30pm in Qudos in the QMU and ends at 11:30pm. The following scottish bands will be playing:

The tickets are 5£ and can be bought before hand at the QM or on the night. All the money raised will be going to towards the glasgow university expedition society. This summer we will be going to Gambia, in Africa, for 8 weeks to teach kids english in a local school and do animal studies.
This is a great opportunity to listen to some Glaswegian bands and have a fun night in the QMU, while helping to fundraise for a good cause! its gonna be an AMAZING night, dont miss it!

The Student Cinema & Television Society (SCATS) have organised a trip to the National Media Museum in Bradford, England this Saturday, 1st March. The cost of the trip is very cheap - only £10 per person - and there are still seats available on the coach. We’ll be leaving early on Saturday morning and will be back at around 11pm on Saturday night.
You can buy tickets tonight (Wed 27th February) in Uisge Beatha on Woodlands Road from 7pm - go to the room on the left & ask for the film society - or at the Gilmorehill cinema at 3pm on Thursday (28th February).

Calling all budding filmmakers and cinephiles!
Glasgow Film Festival is proud to host the 2008 launch event of one of the most innovative and groundbreaking UK film festivals in recent years, with a special screening of Water Lilies - a stunning feature debut by talented female film director Celine Sciamma - followed by a q& a with some special guests!
Spreading their wings since their launch in 2005, Birds Eye View has, through its annual London festival, national and international events and training, been instrumental in investing in the future of independent film making and celebrating the talents of women in the industry.
As well as launching the London festival (6-14 March 2008), Birds Eye View director Rachel Millward will announce the first Glasgow season of BEV films, to take place at the Glasgow Film Theatre in May of this year. The season will include workshops, panel discussions and networking events, so come along to the launch to meet the BEV gang and find out more!

Student Volunteers Abroad (SVA) is a not-for-profit student run organisation at the
University of
Glasgow. SVA requires general funding to cover costs such as training for the different projects. Therefore, fundraising events are scheduled throughout the year.
The first of SVA’s big fundraisers will take place on Wednesday 30th January at the QMU from 9-1. The price is £4 if you are wearing tartan and £5 if not. Tickets will also be available on the door and There’s also going to be a raffle.
